The Family Preservation Project (FPP) protects the legal rights of
parents while saving the state thousands of dollars spent on private
counsel and long stays in foster care.
RILS provides representation in
those instances where the Public Defender cannot represent more than one
parent as a result of a conflict of interest. The goal of the FPP
attorneys is to ensure that low-income parents in danger of loosing their
children to state custody receive proper representation in the Family
Court. Our attorneys represent clients with a philosophy that supports
family reunification or preservation when possible and requires the state
to make all reasonable efforts to support this goal prior to placing
children in foster care.
